In December last year, we had to cancel the Robert F. Kennedy Legacy Lecture due to an illness of our laureate Gino Strada. Now, we are excited that the lecture will take place on 13 May 2017 at Widder Hotel in Zurich. The event will begin at 07.00 PM.
It was in 1994 when the Italian Surgeon Gino Strada founded the organization Emergency in order to provide medical services to civilian victims in war zones and areas of severe crisis. Through Gino Strada's fearless activism and tireless work, Emergency has since been able to provide medical care to more than 7 Million civilians in Libya, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Sudan, Iraq, and Sierra Leone.
In 2015, Gino Strada received the prestigious Right Livelihood Award - also referred to as the alternative Nobel Prize.
Prof. Joseph Osterwalder, former Chairman of the Emergency Department at Kantonsspital St.Gallen, will deliver laudatory remarks prior to Gino Strada's lecture.
We will also incorporate Dr. Strada into our Swiss human rights education program Speak Truth To Power, for children and students can learn about the cause Gino Strada has been fighting for almost his entire life.
